Are you afraid of the dentist?  If so, you are not alone!  In studies conducted by the American Association of Endodontists, approximately 80 percent of Americans are afraid of the dentist.  And anywhere from five to 10 percent of those people are so afraid that they avoid dental visits altogether. 

Forgoing dental treatment means cavities, lost teeth, altered appearance, and more serious afflictions like gum disease (which is linked to heart disease, strokes and diabetes).  With statistics this staggering, Rodeo Dental and Orthodontics long ago recognized the need to prioritize alleviating dental fears through its use of sedation dentistry and a warm and caring staff. 

Is sedation right for you?  In one study, 90 percent of fearful patients reported more comfort and less fear with the use of sedation.  Dr. Robin Bethell, a practitioner at the office, has seen success with his patients.

Sedation can be as simple as nitrous oxide (commonly known as laughing gas) or an oral sedation pill, or can be done via a technique called IV sedation, which leaves the patient fully conscious but deeply relaxed and unconcerned about the appointment.  Sedation can even be used for simple activities like a basic cleaning, so don't be afraid to ask!
